Forum Title: Wool carpet in the basement
I would like to consider installing wool carpet in our finished basement. We have lived in our home one year; basement seems relatively dry. My husband thinks that the wool will absorb too much moisture and hence be at risk for mold and mildew. Thoughts?

Also, the asbestos warning above seems ominous...does that apply only to carpets installed before a certain year? Our home is only 12 years old.

Please read the notice carefully. It refers only to existing resilient flooring, backing, lining felt, asphaltic cutback adhesive or other adhesive. No carpet of any kind is mentioned. Sorry for any undue alarm. Jim
